Hello, and thank you for visiting my page! I am a Certified Clinical Social Worker in the state of Maryland (LCSW-C) and a Licensed Master's Social Worker in the state of Michigan (LMSW). I am also a Certified EMDR Therapist and an EMDRIA Approved Consultant.

I received my Master’s in Social Work from Smith College in Northampton, MA and my bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. I have spent the majority of my career working at a community mental health center. I have over 13 years of experience working with people who have experienced complex trauma and have moderate to severe mental health symptoms. My other specialties include parents involved with child welfare, neurodivergence, and gender affirming care.

Please note: I am NOT currently accepting new therapy clients, but I DO have openings for people seeking EMDR consultation to enhance their skills and/or to work toward EMDRIA certification. Please see below for details.

You may notice my use of the word “trauma” or “traumatic.” The term “trauma” is used to describe any experience that is overwhelming for a person. Trauma can be thought of as “big ’T’ traumas” (abuse, assault, losses, combat, car accidents, etc) or “little ’t’ traumas" (conflicts, failures, disappointments, confrontations, etc). When we look at mental health from a trauma perspective, we see how common traumatic experiences are and we can destigmatize their lasting effects. The process of separating a person from their trauma allows the trauma to become treatable. The question shifts from “What’s wrong with you?” to “What's happened to you?” We can then chisel away at the shame a person may be carrying and kickstart the brain’s natural healing process.

EMDR is my preferred tool in doing this work, because I have found it to be the most effective. I have worked with clients on a variety of issues, including stress, anxiety, phobias, depression, PTSD, abuse, relationship and attachment issues, life transitions, and parenting. I have experience working with people on the autism spectrum and with people struggling with gender identity. I prioritize creating a safe and supportive environment. I offer a calm, authentic, compassionate style and use an eclectic, active, relational approach grounded in psychodynamic training.
